YMCA of Central Texas set to expand Cedar Park facilities
CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — Families will soon have more space and options at the Twin Lakes Family YMCA in Cedar Park.
The facility is breaking ground on a new adventure course and pavilion on Tuesday.
The Y said the location gets particularly packed in the summertime with more than 700 kids each day for day and overnight camp.
YMCA of Central Texas CEO Jeff Andresen said the current climbing apparatus can only handle up to four kids at a time, while the new one has room for 100.
"We'll be able to put those kids through an adventure course rapidly, and they'll spend about 45 minutes of time on there," he said.
When summer camp is not in session, it'll be open to the public.
The adventure course and pavilion are both expected to take nine to 12 months to complete.
Andresen said the project was made possible with funding from Williamson County, the Orr Family, the Avery Family, and several other sponsors.
"This one is just in a long line of things that we've done out here to make sure that kids and families have a great time," he said.
