Morgan Wallen Addresses Infamous 'SNL' Walk-off In New Interview
More than a month after his controversial Saturday Night Live exit, Morgan Wallen is sounding off.
In an interview on the podcast Sundae Conversations with host Caleb Pressley, Wallen addressed why he walked off the set of Saturday Night Live.
“No, no, I was just ready to go home,” he said, denying that it was meant as a slight against the show. “I been there all week.”
For those unfamiliar, Wallen was featured as the musical guest alongside host and newly minted Oscar winner Mikey Madison. During the closing credits, Wallen walked offstage early, to the bewilderment of some of the show's cast .
While Wallen has remained largely silent regarding the speculation surrounding his SNL appearance, unnamed sources within his camp told Variety that the “I’m the Problem” singer actually had no problem with Saturday Night Live.
Following his appearance on the show, in which he appeared as the musical guest, Wallen took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of a private jet along with the caption, "Get me to God's country."
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, cast member Kenan Thompson addressed the controversy surrounding Wallen.
“It just felt so abrupt. And it was already such a small grouping on the stage anyway. So it was just like, oh wow, that was pretty visible,” Thompson said to Entertainment Weekly. “The ‘God’s country’ of it all is strange because it’s like, what are you trying to say? You trying to say that we are not in God’s country? … That’s not necessarily my favorite. But whatever.”
