Motorcyclist dies in rear-end crash near Emporia

LYON COUNTY (KSNT) - On Monday, a 60-year-old motorcyclist from Saint Joseph died after getting rear-ended on I-35 north of Emporia.

At 4:37 p.m. the 60-year-old was driving a Honda Goldwing north on I-35 in the left lane due to a lane closure. A 26-year-old man driving a Mazda CX-3 came up behind the 60-year-old and rear ended the motorcycle. As a result, the 60-year-old fell off of the motorcycle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).

The 60-year-old died from his injuries and his next of kin was notified by the Hutchinson Police Department. The 26-year-old had no injuries. According to the KHP, the 60-year-old wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
