'God help us all': Alarm raised after Pentagon deploys B-2 bombers to Guam
According to reports from both the Washington Post and the New York Times, the Pentagon has deployed "multiple B-2 Spirit stealth bombers" over the Pacific Ocean towards Guam, raising alarms that the U.S. may become more deeply involved in Israel's attacks on Iran.
The Post is reporting, "The B-2 is the only U.S. aircraft able to carry the 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs thought to be capable of penetrating Iran’s underground Fordow nuclear enrichment facility."
The Times report added, "The B-2 flights were initially tracked on social media just before 1 a.m. on Saturday. Some flight trackers said that the destination of the aircraft is Guam, the U.S. territory, which has several military installations, although that could not be independently confirmed," before stating, "A White House spokeswoman declined to comment."
The breaking news on Saturday has onlookers wondering if the movement is a "show of force" to Iran as Trump reportedly mulls his options over the next two weeks as he has stated, or if there is more going on than what meets the eye.
On Bluesky, attorney Aaron Parnas pointed to the report and wrote, "BREAKING: We now have confirmation from Reuters and NBC that B2 bombers are being moved toward Iran, to Guam. This is what would be needed for a strike, if Trump gives the green light."
That led to a flood of speculation about Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's plans.
With Der Casi predicting, "Now It's getting serious,' Athena contributed, "Think he will do it, because his press secretary said he’s going with his ‘gut instincts’ on this. Hope what I read about him dropping a nuclear bomb is what he would call ‘fake news’. God help us all."
Indulging in black humor, Sharon Stitcher suggested, "I guess whiskey Pete is back on Signal?"
"So, nobody was able to convince the President why it would be a bad idea to drop a nuke on another country, unprovoked. Nobody explained how sanctions work. Nobody explained how this will create the single most unifying opposition to the US. The dangers of "yes men". We are doomed," warned Ace Combat Fan.
Elesw19 worried, "Hopefully it’s just a threat because if he bombs them and claims mission accomplished the military will swoon for him and that will strengthen his authoritarian hold."
"The War Powers Act? Anyone? Anyone?" JPratt asked.
