For the first time, India's school teacher count surpassed one crore in 2024-25, according to UDISE data. This increase has improved Pupil-Teacher Ratios across all levels, now exceeding National Education Policy recommendations. The academic year also saw reduced dropout rates and improved student retention, indicating positive trends in the education system with fewer zero-enrolment and single-teacher schools.
