0

Central Zone skipper Rajat Patidar smashed a stunning century off just 80 balls against North East Zone in the Duleep Trophy, strengthening his case for a place in the Indian squad for the upcoming West Indies series. The RCB star’s quickfire knock has once again highlighted his growing reputation as one of India’s most reliable middle-order batters.

Fresh from a memorable IPL 2025 campaign, where he led Royal Challengers Bangalore to their maiden title, Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar is now making waves in domestic cricket. The in-form right-hander is representing Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy, featuring in the first quarter-final clash. The tournament will continue with the semi-finals scheduled from September 4 to 10, followed by the final on September 11.

Rajat Patidar Marks Comeback With Duleep Trophy Century

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Rajat Patidar announced his return to competitive cricket in style, smashing a blazing 80-ball century on the opening day of the Duleep Trophy clash against North East Zone on August 28.

Patidar returned to domestic action after last featuring in the IPL 2025 in June., when he famously led RCB to their maiden Indian Premier League title. In that season, Patidar contributed 312 runs across 14 matches at a strike rate of 143.77, averaging 24, while also earning praise for his leadership.

Patidar’s latest knock has once again put him in the spotlight for national selection. After struggling earlier due to inconsistent form, he now looks a far more composed and confident cricketer. The added responsibility of captaincy, both for RCB and Central Zone, seems to have brought out the best in him, boosting his chances of national selection.

Rajat Patidar produced a blistering knock in the Duleep Trophy, smashing 21 fours and 3 sixes on his way to a 96-ball 125 — his 14th century in first-class cricket. The RCB skipper looked in complete control, taking the attack to the North East Zone bowlers with aggressive stroke play.

He was ably supported by Vidarbha’s Danish Malewar, who made headlines with a brilliant double century in the same innings, ensuring Central Zone built a commanding position in the match.
