New 'Wheel of Fortune' Million Dollar Winner Kept It a Secret From Her Boyfriend, Reveals Her Plans For Her Winnings & If She Quit Her Job

Christina Derevjanik is opening up about her big win on Wheel of Fortune this week!

The Connecticut woman became only the fifth contestant to win the million dollar prize on the game show on the Tuesday (September 30) episode, but her boyfriend was kept in the dark about her big win.

Christina actually won $1,035,155, including her wins throughout the regular game, and she has revealed she didn’t tell her boyfriend for months!

Of course, episodes are filmed in advance, and this particular episode was recorded back in May.

“He had no idea,” she told the New York Post the day after her win aired, while also revealing she had only been dating her man for a few weeks at that time.

“He called me [after the show aired] and was just so excited,” she added – they didn’t watch together as he was in a different city when the episode aired. “He is absolutely thrilled for me.”

Along with her monetary win, Christina also won trips to Montana and Tokyo, and is planning to take her beau with her!

Since she had to keep her big win a secret until it aired, she hadn’t even told her family, including her parents, but noted they “definitely saw a little pep in my step.”

After taxes, her winnings come out to about $660,000, with the option of receiving the money in installments or a lump sum. Christina is leaning towards the lump sum so she can quickly pay off her student loans, and buy her first home!

“I don’t know when I would’ve been able to afford a home, so these winnings are just completely life-changing for me,” she shared. “I’m really excited about what the future holds now that I have this financial freedom.”

While on the show, Christina enthused she would quit her job, but later said she would have a discussion with her boss, who was at the show’s taping with her. Now, she says she’s not leaving her post.

“I’m not quitting the job,” she clarified. “My boss is very happy. I will be continuing to work for her, and I was just so excited that she was able to be part of the experience.”
