Aston Villa team news: FOUR changes for Villa against Burnley

Aston Villa head into the October international break looking to secure a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

Villa take on Burnley in the Premier League in a 2.00pm kick-off on Sunday. Both teams have a sole league win to their names but the Clarets have had inarguably the tougher fixture list on paper.

Unai Emery has made four changes to his personnel and the starting eleven will certainly give opposition manager Scott Parker something different to think about.

Emery springing a surprise?

The return of goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez will be a simple matter of fitness and Lucas Digne coming in for Ian Maatsen seems to be Emery’s preference for Premier League matches.

But Parker might not have anticipated Emi Buendía and Evann Guessand being named on the Villa bench.

Lamare Bogarde gets the start in place of Guessand, presumably pushing Villa captain John McGinn into a more advanced position, while Buendía is replaced by Donyell Malen.

The Dutchman’s last start was as a lone striker against Bologna in the Europa League but he’ll be operating wider this afternoon unless Emery really has gone for shock and awe.

Midfielders Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley are both fit enough to be named on the bench.
