Under 20s This Sunday

0

The under 20s have been training since the middle of August under the leadership of Adam Curry, joined by colts coach Andrew Egan and former club captains Ian Cassidy and Josh Pim, as both take their first steps into coaching after illustrious playing careers.

The coaches were busy during the summer meeting players and building a squad for the season ahead.

The team will play in Prem 2 of the JP Flanagan league.  A number of the squad attended the training camp in Spain which would have given them a taste of senior training.  Some also played for the 1st XV in the Leinster league and performed very well, gaining great experience at that level.

The management team has also been confirmed and this is made up of Stuart Kinlan, Bernard Raftery, Aidan Gordon and Will Glass.  Mark Younge looks after registration making sure all players are registered and eligible.

Early signs are positive.  Although it is a small squad, training has gone well and the workload and physicality has increased over the last number of weeks as we build towards the start of the league.   The squad have bonded well and are enjoying training and the knowledge and experience passed on by the coaches.

With two friendlies under our belt and two wins against Mary’s B team and the North Dublin Vikings, focus now turns to this Sunday and the start of the league when we host Navan in Donnybrook at 3pm.

The coaches and management are asking for your support for this young squad as most will play their first competitive match for Old Wesley in what will hopefully be a long and successful season for them.
