Pakistan’s Mohsin Dawar Blames Government Policies After Deadly Suicide Attack in North Waziristan
Pakistan’s Mohsin Dawar criticized government policies after a deadly suicide attack in North Waziristan, saying civilians continue to suffer from Islamabad’s wrong security decisions.
Mohsin Dawar, a former member of Pakistan’s parliament, criticized Islamabad’s security policies following a deadly suicide bombing at a military compound in North Waziristan that also injured several civilians.
Writing on X on Friday, Dawar said that “ordinary people continue to suffer because of the government’s wrong policies,” after the blast that killed at least seven Pakistani soldiers.
He added that several civilians were wounded when security forces opened fire following the explosion, underscoring growing public frustration over rising violence in the country’s northwest.
Earlier, Pakistani officials told Reuters that the attack began when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the wall of a military compound, followed by three gunmen who were later shot dead by security forces.
Officials said the blast injured at least 13 others, marking one of the deadliest assaults in recent weeks in a region that has seen renewed militant activity linked to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The incident has reignited debate over Pakistan’s counterterrorism strategy, as critics accuse the government of failing to protect civilians and address the root causes of extremism.
Security analysts warn that continued instability in North Waziristan could deepen Pakistan’s internal security crisis, especially as cross-border tensions with Afghanistan further complicate military operations in the tribal belt.
