Insiders Alleged This Controversial Star Was the One Who Set Up Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau

Ever since Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau got together, everyone has wanted to know the details behind the unlikely pair. And now insiders just alleged a major clue on how they got together — mutual pal Lauren Sanchez allegedly set them up!

Insiders told Rob Shuter of #ShuterScoop that Sanchez was the one to set them up. One insider said, “Lauren introduced them through her circle — she thought they’d vibe instantly. And wow, did she call it.”

One source said the setup has truly worked out, saying, “They have insane chemistry. Katy thinks Justin’s witty and kind, and he’s in awe of her energy.”

Lauren even joked about the set-up, reportedly saying, “I’ve gone from launching rockets to launching romances!”

(Sanchez and Perry met through their shared experience on a Blue Origin space flight in April 2025, but as for Trudeau, he and Sanchez probably met through her husband, Jeff Bezos, who first met him in 2018.)

While it’s still unclear when they exactly got together, we do know Perry and Trudeau started reportedly dating after a July 28 date night in Montreal, and Trudeau attended Perry’s Lifetimes Tour in Montreal on July 29. (However, per The US Sun, they first met at an unnamed event a few weeks before their first date.)

After their Montreal dates, a source told People that Trudeau and Perry sparked an “instant connection.”

“They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” the source said. “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”

Then, on October 11, the Daily Mail obtained photos of Trudeau and Perry kissing aboard Perry’s 24-meter yacht in Santa Barbara, California. Weeks after that, in late Oct 2025, they made their first official outing as a couple at Perry’s birthday party in Paris!
