City manager
gets pay bump
City Manager Dan Schwarz has received an 8.4% increase in base salary under a contract amendment approved by the City Council.
The action raises the base annual salary by $22,618, setting it at $291,838. Schwarz, in a report to the council, said the increase would make the salary more competitive with comparable positions in Marin.
“Several Marin cities currently offer or are scheduled to offer base salaries to their city managers in excess of $300,000,” he wrote. The raise is being offset by a reduction in Schwarz’s deferred compensation.
“This amendment to the City Manager’s agreement will increase total compensation costs to the General Fund by approximately $7,600 in Fiscal Year 2025-26 and $10,600 in subsequent years,” he wrote. “Additionally, the amendment includes a one-time award of approximately $14,500 related to previously identified performance goals.”
The council approved the action on Oct. 15. Schwarz has been city manager since 2010.

Donors give $9K
to defeat measure
A campaign committee called Friends of MLK Park — No on Measure K has reported receiving just over $9,000 in contributions, including a $3,000 contribution from Scott Raymond, chief financial officer of Club Evexia, and $3,000 from Benjamin Dean, head of sales at Alto Pharmacy, according to the latest campaign finance filings.
The measure on the Nov. 4 ballot would rezone 2 acres of city land at the edge of the park for a 50-apartment low-income housing complex for seniors. The plan is opposed by a group of neighbors.
