Why Nicole Young Was 'Fired' During 'Selling Sunset': What She Said to Chrishell Stause That Caused Her Removal

It was previously reported that Nicole Young ended up on pause with Selling Sunset cameras while they were filming season nine.

Now that season 9 has premiered, we know exactly what went down.

During a scene where some of the brokers got together, Nicole‘s drama got brought up. Specifically, the rumor Nicole started that Emma Hernan was seeing a married man, which all went down in season 8.

Amanza Smith tells Nicole, “I love you, but you f—ed up,” which caused Nicole to respond, “Where was this energy when it was me?”

Then, Amanza turns to Chrishell Stause and Emma and says, “Oh you want to go backwards? Let me go backwards. You guys were f—ed up to her. ‘You’re on drugs, you’re this.’ It was f—ed up.”

Chrishell then says, “Even if it was true?”

Nicole responds with, “Honey, you’re confusing me with your parents, okay? You seem to be obsessed with drugs.”

Chrishell had previously spoken about her upbringing, family going through addiction, and more in her book. Chrishell lost both of her parents to lung cancer less than a year apart in 2019 and 2020.

This comment caused an uproar with Amanza yelling at Nicole, “Get the f— out. [Her] parents are dead. Are you f—ing serious?”

In a later episode, Nicole is brought back to discuss this.

Jason shared, “Let me start this off just by saying, the reason we asked you in early, is because there’s obviously been an escalation of issues between you, Chrishell and other ladies that’s come to our attention. When it started, we felt like we could fix it, you know. But it feels more and more like we’re jamming a square peg into a round hole. It’s just not working, and if anything, it’s creating more friction and getting worse.”

“I honestly could not believe the comment you made about Chrishell’s parents. I was viscerally disheartened and offended. Any reference to someone’s dead parents is categorically off limits. Especially if it’s disparaging. You can call it savage, you can say that you were pushed into a corner. But it’s off limits what you said,” he added.

She was then asked to “leave the office.”

“You honestly think that’s fair? How long I’ve been here, the amount of business I bring in. Are you prepared to lose that?” Nicole responds.

Nicole does appear later on in the series, and says that she’s planning to move to Nashville once she settles her current listings. She is still listed on the O Group’s site.

And while Jason never explicitly stated she was fired, Bre Tiesi did mention it in the episode, saying, “It does not surprise me that Nicole’s been fired. She’s taken it to the pits of hell and I’m actually really proud of Jason.”
