Alan Carr Defends His Celebrity Traitors Decision To Kill Paloma Faith

Alan Carr is sticking to his guns and has no regrets about murdering Paloma Faith in The Celebrity Traitors.

The comedian’s controversial decision to kill his real-life friend on the show in plain sight has remained a key talking point of the series, both amongst contestants and viewers.

On the show, celebrity Faithfuls keep returning to the fact Alan killed his pal Paloma as proof that he couldn’t possibly be a Traitor, when in fact it was one of his first decisions in the role.

Now, Alan has defended his decision in a new episode of his Life’s a Beach podcast during an interview with Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim.

When Norman asked if Alan was mates with Paloma the comedian joked, “Well, I was…” Before sharing what Paloma said to him on finding out who her murderer was.

“She said, ‘If you were a real friend, you wouldn’t have killed me’,” Alan explained. “But I said, ‘I’m the Traitor!’ The show’s called The Traitors - it does what it says on the tin.”

Alan drove home his point by comparing his role as a Traitor to being a contestant on Channel 4’s nude dating show Naked Attraction.

“It’s like going on Naked Attraction and being told, what, I have to take my knickers off? You know what you’re signing up for!” he laughed.

Alan chose to target Paloma when he and fellow “Traitors” Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns were tasked with touching the face of the celebrity they wanted to kill - and thus eliminate from the game - deeming it the least suspicious person to get up close and personal with.

The star has previously poked fun at the situation, with both he and Paloma trading lighthearted barbs on social media about his decision. 

Meanwhile, Paloma has taken the situation in her stride, previously jokingly calling Alan a “prick” and claiming she wouldn’t have betrayed him had the tables been turned, but ultimately appreciating the spirit of the game and forgiving him.

After throwing fellow traitor Jonathan under the bus, Alan could be in a spot of bother in tonight’s episode of Celebrity Traitors as he’s been tasked with another plain sight murder, which has divided viewers.
