Massive hit to Australia: Star pacer ruled out of Pink-ball Ashes Test, will join later on
The Aussie team is going to be without the services of their star pacer Josh Hazlewood for the pink-ball Test of the Ashes vs England. On November 24, head coach Andrew McDonald confirmed that Hazlweood is still going rehabilitation from his hamstring injury.
“He’s working through the first week of his rehab. I’m not sure that we need to give an update on that. Once he gets further down the track and [we] have some rough timelines, then we’ll be in a position to communicate that,” McDonald told the reporters.
Andrew McDonald further reinstated that he knew Josh Hazlewood will be available for the series, but it is not the right time yet. He mentioned that the veteran pacer has some rehabilitation time remaining, but clarified that he is going to be available later on in the series.
“I know that he’ll be available at some point during the series. We’ve got a little bit of that early rehab to go through to formulate where he may plug into the series, but we expect him to take some part in the series,” he said.
As of now, the first Test of the Ashes played in Perth is finished, where Australia won the game by 8 wickets. The game was a shocking one, as the game witnessed 19 wickets falling on the opening day, followed by the Aussies winning shortly.
