Bollywood Legend Dharmendra Dies at 89
Bollywood legend Dharmendra has sadly passed away at the age of 89.
The acting legend had enjoyed a decades-long career with over 300 credits to his name. He was often called the “original He-Man of Bollywood.”
He was well known for films and titles like Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, Anupama, Satyakam, Chupke Chupke, Seeta Aur Geeta, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dost, Dream Girl, and The Burning Train.
NBC News reports that he had been hospitalized on and off in Mumbai, India for the past few weeks.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X, “The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played. The manner in which he played diverse roles struck a chord with countless people. Dharmendra Ji was equally admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with his family, friends and innumerable fans. Om Shanti.”
He is survived by two wives, Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur, and their children and grandchildren. RIP.
