Legendary Lion: Lincoln-San Jose’s Kyan Phillips etches name in school history with 6 TDs as Lions win first CCS title
SAN JOSE — In case of emergency, give the ball to Kyan Phillips.
Lincoln-San Jose, playing in its first CCS championship game, heeded that advice repeatedly on Saturday night at San Jose City College.
It was a wise decision. Facing Branham in the CCS Division IV championship, Lincoln continuously fed Phillips, who scored six touchdowns in the first three quarters as the Lions beat the Bruins 49-21.
Phillips put on a performance for the ages, dazzling with an array of long scoring runs and finishing off multiple tough carries inside the tackles to compile an astounding personal point total.
All told, Phillips has now scored 41 total touchdowns this season.
