'This is dangerous!' Right-wing Newsmax panel melts down over 'disgusting' ads against ICE
A Newsmax panel erupted Sunday in response to a series of advertisements running this weekend encouraging Immigration Customs and Enforcement officers to quit their jobs, with panel participants calling the ads everything from “disgusting” to “classic communism.”
The video advertisement in question was launched by the Women’s March WIN political action committee, and depicts an ICE agent returning home from work to their young daughter, who asks them “how was your day?”
In the ad, a narrator can be heard speaking directly to ICE agents, telling them that “a mask can’t hide you from your neighbors, your children and God,” and that they “can walk away before the shame follows you home.”
For Deneen Borelli, conservative commentator, Newsmax contributor and author, the ad went far beyond what she considered acceptable, and she even argued that it would encourage violence against ICE officers nationwide.
“I think it's outrageous that the Democrats put out that video, and this is beyond propaganda, this is dangerous!” Borelli said.
“You're sending a message to the loons out there that you can do whatever you want and put targets on the backs of our law enforcement personnel. And shame on these networks for airing these commercials!”
Borelli’s husband, Tom Borelli, was also a guest on the show, and he launched into a tirade over how the ad somehow was similar to actions by the Soviet Union before its dissolution in 1991.
“What this is is classic communism; turning families against each other,” Mr. Borelli said. “This is part of the agenda, it happened all the time in the Soviet Union, this is what they do! They're doing it on many issues: transchil -- transgender children as well, turn the families, put the state in charge, not the family, not the parents.”
Launched this week, the ad campaign first aired in Palm Beach, Florida, a strategist target given that President Donald Trump – the architect behind the ongoing mass deportations – is reported to be spending his Thanksgiving weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach. The ads are set to also run in Chicago, Illinois, and Charlotte, North Carolina, two cities that have seen significant immigration crackdowns and raids.
One of the Newsmax hosts went on to label the ad as “shocking” and “disgusting,” and went as far as to blame the deadly shooting last week of two National Guard members in Washington, D.C. on “this thinking” displayed in the ad.
