(VIDEO) Fellow Traveler Zohran Mamdani Says He Called Trump to “Register Opposition” to Comrade Maduro’s Arrest – Ridiculously Claims Move Harms Venezuelans as They Celebrate in the Streets of NYC
Newly inaugurated New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Saturday said he called President Trump following the operation in Venezuela to arrest Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, a fellow Communist.
“I called the president and spoke with him directly to register my opposition to this act,” Mamdani said.
He further claimed that the operation was a “violation of federal international law.”
WATCH:
Mamdani: I was briefed by my first deputy mayor, my chief of staff, my chief counsel, the police commissioner, as well as other members of my team. I called the president and spoke with him directly to register my opposition to this act and to make clear that it was an opposition based on being opposed to a pursuit of regime change, to the violation of federal international law, and a desire to see that be consistent each and every day.
I registered my opposition, I made it clear, and we left it at that.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Mamdani took to X this afternoon, attacking President Trump and saying the move “directly impacts New Yorkers, including tens of thousands of Venezuelans who call this city home.”
However, despite his efforts to speak on behalf of the poor Venezuelans, The Gateway Pundit reported that Venezuelans worldwide have erupted in celebration of Maduro’s arrest. Venezuelans in New York were even celebrating outside of the Southern District of New York court and confronting leftist protesters.
Maduro was indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges of Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States, the Gateway Pundit reported.
This adds more irony for Mamdani as Maduro arrived at Stewart Airport, just north of New York City this afternoon.
He is expected to arrive at a federal detention center in Brooklyn this evening and have a court hearing as soon as Monday.
