2 charged after $5,000 worth of Funko Pops stolen from Joliet apartment

A man and woman are accused of stealing $5,000 worth of figurines known as Funko Pops from a Joliet apartment Saturday afternoon.

Demetrius Greene and Stacey Jones, both of Joliet, entered an apartment in the 300 block of Marble Street around 4:20 p.m. Saturday to retrieve a personal item when they allegedly began placing the figurines into garbage bags despite the tenant telling them to stop, Joliet police said.

When the tenant tried to stop them from leaving, Greene allegedly pushed him against a table, police said.

The pair then used a rideshare vehicle to leave the area and were arrested during a traffic stop where the figurines were recovered in the 1700 block of North Larkin Avenue, authorities said.

Greene, 41, was charged with robbery and violation of pretrial release and Jones, 46, was charged with burglary.

Greene was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, while Jones was released on a notice to appear in court.
