Sports briefs: Archie Williams rolls to road victory

Charlie Hinkelman found the back of the net twice and had an assist to lead the Archie Williams High boys soccer team to a 4-0 road win against Campolindo on Saturday night.

Sean Chamberlin and Eleazar Lopez also scored for the Peregrine Falcons (8-3-3). Devin Singh also had an assist for Archie Williams. Goalie Jask Kasin picked up the shutout.

Prep wrestling

Redwood’s Dylan Morton (134) placed third Saturday at the Puma Classic at Maria Carrillo High School. Morton went 5-1, including a forfeit win to start the day, as he battled through the championship rounds to the semifinals before he was stopped by Red Bluff’s Leighton Gutierrez. Morton pinned Pittsburg’s Mason Ozuna in the second round of their medal bout.

The Giants’ Hayden Schepps (159) went 3-2 as he placed fourth, while Ayaan Naseer (115) was sixth. Redwood’s Charlie Seraphine (146) and San Marin High heavyweight David Coronado both went 2-2.

  • Redwood High’s Akira Bratti battled it out at her first varsity competition on Saturday at the Goddess of the Vine Tournament at Clayton Valley Charter High School, despite losing both matches.

Track and Field

Marin Waves Track Club athletes had podium finishes at the Pittsburg Winter Meet No. 2 on Saturday. Grace Bramble, who competes for Marin Academy in the spring, took second place in both the high school girls long jump (15’7″) and triple jump (32’9″) on Saturday. Petra Betti was third in the girls shot put (31’3″). Betti, who also competes for Archie Williams High, was sixth in the 150 meter (18.70 seconds) and seventh with a PR in the 60 meter (8.18 seconds), qualifying for the Winter Championships in both events.

Also in the girls high school division, Noa Schachter, a Branson School athlete, was fifth wit ha PR in the 60 meter hurdles (11.37 seconds) and sixth in the 200 meter hurdles (35.26). She also placed 23rd in the 60 meter (9.62) and 31st with a PR in the 150 meter (22.28). Alexa Dennes, who also competes for San Rafael High, had personal-best times in three events as she placed 11th in the 300 meter (45.55), 20th in the 60 meter (8.80) and tied for 23rd in the 150 meter (20.39).

The Waves’ Peter Ralph, a Marin Catholic athlete, was fourth in the boys high school division shot put (32’10′).

Zane Chu had three PRs as he posted the top times in the boys middle school division in the 60 meter (8.27 seconds, 30th overall), 150 meter (19.98, seconds, 39th overall) and 300 meter (44.53 seconds, 21st overall). Jasmine Giavina had the fastest times in the girls middle school division in the 60 meter (8.69 seconds, 17th overall), 150 meter (20.39, tied for 23rd overall), and 300 meter (46.82 seconds, 15th overall).
