Patriots Social Media Team Savagely Trolls Sean Payton After Winning AFC Title
Patriots players might not want to admit they cared about Sean Payton guaranteeing an AFC Championship Game victory, but the team’s social media department is a different story.
In case you missed it, during the lead-up to Sunday’s matchup in Denver, Payton said Broncos fans could look forward to two weeks of “rest,” alluding to the break before Super Bowl LX. The comments took on a life of their own, with major news outlets even trying to drag Kayshon Boutte into a war of words that didn’t exist.
New England ultimately left Denver with a 10-7 victory and a date with the Seattle Seahawks. After the game, the Patriots’ social media team used an X post to troll Payton.
“Rest up, we’re still playing,” the post’s caption said, along with a laughing emoji.
With the Broncos game and the accompanying nonsense behind them, the Patriots can turn their focus toward playing the Seahawks, who arguably have the best defense and offense they’ll have faced all season. It’ll be a fitting final test for a team that’s met every challenge throughout a remarkable campaign.
New England and Seattle will kick off from Levi’s Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 8.
