This Is the Best City To Watch the Super Bowl, New Study Says

0

Super Bowl LX is right around the corner. The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will square off at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on Feb. 8 for the right to be champions of professional football.

Over 100 million Americans will be tuned into the game around the country. Some will watch at home, while others will attend house parties or bars with friends. Some will be locked in on television, while others will stream the game.

Whatever viewing method you choose, web hosting platform Cloudwards has put together a study ranking the top American cities to watch the Super Bowl, with Atlanta coming in at No. 1.

How were these rankings calculated?

Cloudwards sorted 100 cities according to four categories: —football culture, social viewing environment, food and convenience, and streaming readiness.

"Some cities burst to life with packed sports bars, affordable beer and fans who bleed football culture year-round," Cloudwards wrote. "Others struggle with limited venues, poor streaming infrastructure or a casual relationship with the sport that makes game day feel like just another Sunday."

The 10 best cities for Super Bowl viewing, per Cloudwards

  1. Atlanta, Georgia
  2. Glendale, Arizona
  3. New Orleans, Louisiana
  4. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  5. Tampa, Florida
  6. North Las Vegas, Nevada
  7. Minneapolis, Minnesota
  8. Cincinnati, Ohio
  9. Arlington, Texas
  10. Cleveland, Ohio

Perhaps not surprisingly, seven of the 10 cities listed above have hosted a Super Bowl. The other three--Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Cleveland--are major football hotbeds.

Why is Atlanta No. 1 overall?

The A is earned the top spot by performing well across the board, ranking second in football culture (behind Houston), sixth in gameday social experience and 16th in food and delivery access. Coming in 99th in streaming quality did not diminish Atlanta's overall standing.

Overall, Atlanta finished with a score of 62.03, edging out Glendale (61.57) and New Orleans (60.87).

Other rankings of note

  • Jersey City, New Jersey was No. 1 in gameday social experience because of its "social viewing environment with exceptional sports bar density," but only finished 15th overall because of a lack of football culture.
  • Las Vegas was No. 1 in food and delivery access and No. 10 in gameday social experience.
  • Kansas City topped the streaming quality category but was relatively low in social experience and food and delivery access, which kept it at No. 24 overall.
