Something dark is growing on Greenland's ice. And melting it faster.

Algae blooms are accelerating Greenland's ice melt, contributing significantly to runoff in the rapidly warming Arctic. Wind-blown dust carrying nutrients fuels these dark patches, which absorb more solar heat and speed up the melting process.
