Liverpool legend overlooks four Tottenham stars for England World Cup squad
Jamie Carragher has named his 26-man squad for the World Cup, and it does not make for great reading from a Tottenham perspective.
17 Tottenham players have already qualified for the World Cup, and more could join them as the playoffs get underway in March.
However, there is a big question mark over whether the Lilywhites will have any representatives in the England squad.
Tottenham players dominated the Three Lions squad not too long ago, but the last couple of squads picked by Thomas Tuchel have had just one Spurs player in them.
Jamie Carragher tips Djed Spence for England snub
Carragher has picked his final 26-man squad for this summer’s tournament in North America, and not a single Spurs player finds the spot.
Despite featuring for England recently, even Djed Spence does not make Carragher’s squad, even though the Liverpool legend named five full-backs in his list. Conor Gallagher is also not tipped to make a return to the England set-up after his January move to Spurs.
Neither the injured James Maddison nor the recently returned Dominic Solanke finds a place on the pundit’s list, with Ollie Watkins being named as Harry Kane’s understudy.
Two Tottenham players have already spoken about their World Cup dreams
James Maddison has admitted that he has given up on his World Cup dream as the attacking midfielder is not expected to return to action until the end of the season.
However, Dominic Solanke has admitted that he will do all he can to be on the plane to North America after returning from his injury layoff.
With none of the English strikers, barring Kane, setting the world alight this season, the Spurs man will believe that he can make Thomas Tuchel’s squad if he delivers strong performances for Tottenham over the coming months.
