Laurence Gagnon & Vincent Nepton, winners of the bursary program with Sherwood Ford

Judo Canada is proud to announce the winners of the Sherwood Ford (AB) bursary program as part of the “The Giant” Canadian Circuit Ranking 2025.This program continues to be a great success, promoting Canadian Circuit events and encouraging the participation of Canada’s top athletes across all age categories. Laurence Gagnon and Vincent Nepton, each receiving a $2,500 bursary for their outstanding performances. “Without the precious support and generosity of Mark Hicks, none of this would be possible,” said Judo Canada CEO Nicolas Gill.

Quick Reminder: How Does It Work?

The top male and female performers each receive a $2,500 bursary. In the event of a tie, the bursary is split evenly.
Bonus Points System:
-25 points for competing in 7 different circuit competitions (e.g., Qc Open Sr and JR count as one).
-50 points for winning 8 medals during the circuit.
-75 points for winning 9 or more medals.
-A minimum of 2 wins is required to earn full points at an event. One win earns 50% of the points.
-Points are cumulative across weight classes, allowing athletes to compete in different weight classes during the tour, but weight classes are limited to IJF Senior categories.
-There’s no limit to the number of events athletes can compete in to earn points.
