Seahawks Superstar Suffers Injury At Practice Before Super Bowl
The Seattle Seahawks were potentially dealt a significant blow prior to Super Bowl LX.
Nick Emmanwori, their rookie safety who has been described as an “animal” by Tom Brady, suffered an ankle injury during practice on Wednesday at San Jose State University, according to a pool report released by the Pro Football Writers of America.
“He had an ankle today,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said, per the report. “We brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from there to figure out what are the next steps?”
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport shared that the club would have imaging done to determine the severity of the injury.
Emmanwori, who has become a vital part of his team’s defense, reportedly injured himself while defending a pass late in practice and had to be comforted by coaches and teammates after walking off the field under his own power. The Seahawks did not provide further comments beyond those of Macdonald.
If you can remember back more than a decade ago, something similar happened when Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor sprained his knee just days prior to a loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.
Seattle will hope this situation ends with a better result — both teams will take the field at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
