The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thursday 5th February) Leeds set to snup up highly rated MUFC academy star

0
Good Morning. It's Thursday 5th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds set to snup up highly rated MUFC academy star

Leeds United are set to bolster their youth ranks with the signing of highly rated attacking midfielder Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher from Manchester United in the coming days. The 17-year-old, who has featured for United’s under-18s this season and earned caps for Serbia at under-19 level, is expected to complete his switch to Elland Road imminently. While the senior transfer window has closed, academy deals can still be finalised, paving the way for the young Serb to join Leeds outside the usual deadline constraints.

Rumours of the transfer gained traction after Ibrovic-Fletcher’s social media activity hinted at the move, with the teenager now following Leeds United’s official Instagram page and popular fan forum TalkLeeds. The Whites have a strong reputation for nurturing young talent—homegrown stars like Kalvin Phillips and the Gray brothers exemplify their commitment to youth development. Signing players like Ibrovic-Fletcher early allows Leeds to invest in potential at a fraction of the cost compared to buying established first-team players.

For the teenager, the move offers a fresh opportunity to progress in a club renowned for giving youngsters a pathway to senior football. If all goes to plan, Ibrovic-Fletcher could soon follow in the footsteps of other academy graduates who have thrived at Elland Road, adding another exciting prospect to Leeds’ promising pipeline of talent.

Could Stach's injury open the door for Buonanotte

Leeds will be without star midfielder Anton Stach for the next fortnight with a hip injury. The news was revealed during Daniel Farke's pre-press conference yesterday in preperations for the crunch tie with Nottingham Forest on Friday night. The 27yo has been one of Leeds best players this season, and currently tops the 'Whoscored' rankings with an impressive 7.11 rating.

The gaffer has several options. Sean Longstaff is fit again, and has being eased back into action gradually with minutes against Derby and Everton. He came on at half-time against Arsenal at the weekend after James Justin bruised his foot. AO Tanaka is an option too. The Japanese International hadn't had the best campaign, picking up 743 minutes of game time, and a disappointing 'Whoscored rating of just 6.29 (18th).

New loan signing Facundo Buonanotte may also be an option. The 21yo may be known for his creativity in forward positions, but as Brighton fans will tell you, the Argentine ace can play anywhere in midfield, or indeed on the wing. Stach's injury couldn't have happened at a more inconvienient time. Friday night's game against Nottingham Forest has been billed as a 'must not lose' game whilst similarly, his strength in midfield will be sorely missed when the Whites visit Stamford Bridge next Tuesday.
