Netflix Launches Catherine O'Hara Collection, Adds 5 New Movies in Star's Memory

0

If you're looking to relive Catherine O'Hara's greatest moments in film, you're in luck — as Netflix has launched a collection dedicated to the Canadian-American actor's work onto its platform.

O'Hara died on Friday, February 4, at the age of 71. Several of Catherine's co-stars, including Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York), Jenna Ortega (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), and Eugene Levy (SCTV,Schitt's Creek, Waiting for Guffman) have shared loving tributes to the star, expressing admiration for her tremendous talent and even greater love and respect to her fellow actors.

From February 5, five new film titles will be added to Netflix U.S., which mark some of O'Hara's greatest contributions to cinema. These include:

  • A Mighty Wind (2003)
  • After Hours (1985)
  • For Your Consideration (2006)
  • Home Fries(1998)
  • Waiting for Guffman (1996)

All five films are the property of Warner Bros. Pictures, which Netflix recently began the process of acquiring. The comedies will be available on the U.S. and Canadian versions of the platform for the next two months.

In addition to these new titles joining the streamer, Catherine O'Hara also stars in Best in Show (2000) and The Wild Robot (2024), which already exist in the U.S. version of Netflix. The former was recently added as one of a series of new additions to the subscription service, joining the platform on February 1st.

Netflix was formerly the home of Schitt's Creek (2015-2020), the Canadian sitcom starring O'Hara as family matriarch Moira Rose, as well as frequent collaborator Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose), his son Dan Levy (David Rose), and Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose).

After originally airing on the Canadian network CBC, the sitcom rose to greater international fandom thanks to what is often described as the "Netflix Bump," with the platform providing greater attention to mid-size network shows, perhaps most famously Breaking Bad (2008-2013). Schitt's Creek left Netflix in 2022, finding a new home at Hulu for all six seasons. The show does, however, still exist on Netflix on several other international versions of the streamer.
