UCL giants poised to sign Man Utd star for £26m, transfer decision made

0

Barcelona have already made their transfer decision on Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to Spanish publication Sport (pages 1 & 2).

The England international joined the Blaugrana on a season-long loan from the Red Devils last summer after falling out of favour under former United boss Ruben Amorim.

Rashford has enjoyed a brilliant loan spell with the Catalan giants thus far. The 28-year-old has netted 10 goals and provided 13 assists from 33 appearances in all competitions.

The Blaugrana have the option to purchase him this summer for £26 million, and Sport claim the Red Devils have no desire to negotiate or provide a discount on the fee.

Amidst this, the La Liga leaders have ‘total’ faith in the Englishman, and the hierarchy believe they can’t find another player of his ability for the price agreed with United.

Hence, Barcelona will activate the £26m buy clause when the season ends, barring him picking up a serious injury. He is poised to sign a contract until June 2029 this summer.

United set for financial boost with Rashford’s exit

Rashford had a fallout with former manager Amorim in December 2024 and spent the back end of the 2024/25 season with Aston Villa. The Villans could not afford a permanent deal due to his wages.

The United graduate ended up signing for the Blaugrana on another loan last summer. Rashford accepted a salary reduction of around 23 percent from £300,000 to £232,000 per week to join the club.

He has proved a huge hit under manager Hansi Flick with 23 goal contributions thus far. Barcelona’s hierarchy are clearly content with his overall form and are prepared to sign him for the long term.

Barcelona were exploring a fresh payment structure last month, but United are quite firm on their stance. Hence, it appears the Red Devils could receive the £26m fee in a solitary payment this summer.

The decision to part ways with Rashford was probably the right thing to do. Rashford has been inconsistent in recent campaigns. He has had a top season followed by a mediocre one.

The trend could easily repeat at the Camp Nou in the future. United look poised to make pure profit from Rashford’s sale, which should further boost their spending spree at the end of the season.

The club spent more than £200m on attacking recruits in particular last summer. A new left winger could be signed this time, but the prime priority will obviously be the defensive midfield department.

Casemiro is on his way out when his contract expires on June 30. Manuel Ugarte has flattered to deceive since his switch from Paris Saint-Germain and could be offloaded by the club as well.
