Khuja Asif, Pakistani defense minister stated that the blast has been a suicide attack and the attacker has traveled to Afghanistan, a claim that has been denied by the Taliban officials.
Pakistan has witnessed several attacks targeting religious and public gatherings in recent months, raising concerns about the safety of worship sites.
