In a February 10 video, the White House used Kesha‘s 2011 song “Blow” to soundtrack a video of fighter jets flying through the air before one drops bombs on a target on TikTok.
“Lethality,” they captioned the clip, which played as the hitmaker sang, “This place about to blow.”
She made it abundantly clear that she did not endorse the usage of her music.
“It’s come to my attention that the White House has used one of my songs on TikTok to incite violence and threaten war. Trying to make light of war is disgusting and inhuman. I absolutely do NOT approve of my music being used to promote violence of any kind. Love always trumps hate,” she wrote in a statement shared on X.
Kesha continued, adding, “Please love yourself and each other in times like this. This show of blatant disregard for human life and quite frankly this attack on all of our nervous systems is the opposite of what I stand for.”
“Also, don’t let this distract us from the fact that criminal predator Donald Trump appears in the Files over a million times,” she concluded, seemingly referencing the Epstein files, which the 79-year-old president is mentioned in.
However, Trump has not been formally accused of wrongdoing and continues to insist that he has been “exonerated” by the documents.
This is not the first time that the president has been called out over social media content in recent weeks. He was slammed online after posting an AI-generated video that featured a U.S. hockey player insulting another country.
He also recently had to delete an AI-generated video that was called out as racist because it featured the Obamas depicted as apes.
Trump offered a shocking explanation for why he didn’t have to apologize for the clip.
Just Jared contacted the White House for comment but did not hear back at the time of publication.
