'Traitors' Winner Rob Rausch Follows Through on a Very Expensive Promise

0

Rob Rausch is a man of his word, and he followed through on a very expensive promise this week.

After winning The Traitors as a traitor, duping runner-up Maura Higgins the whole way, Rausch revealed during the reunion episode that he promised to purchase a Hermès Birkin handbag for her as an apology.

On Wednesday, he officially followed through with that promise as he publicly gifted the iconic bag to Higgins during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen.

Rob Rausch Wins 'The Traitors'

Rausch, who rose to fame during his appearance on Love Island USA Season 6, was the lone winner of Season 4 of The Traitors, where he fooled nearly everyone on his way to the $220,800 cash prize, including Higgins.

Higgins was Rausch's most loyal friend and ally throughout the show, all the way until the end, when she voted alongside him to eliminate Johnny Weir, Tara Lapinski, and his fellow traitor, Eric Nam, making her and Rausch the final two standing, believing they had won together and would split the winnings.

Unfortunately for Higgins, she had been duped; Rausch had been a traitor the whole time and would take home the entire prize himself, with Higgins getting nothing.

A Birkin Apology

During the show's reunion episode, which aired immediately following the finale, Rausch revealed plans to purchase Higgins a Hermès Birkin handbag to apologize for lying to her throughout the entire game and pocketing all the money himself.

However, Birkins are notoriously hard to get, so Rausch needed help. During a recent interview with People, he said he gives "all the credit" to fellow Traitor Lisa Rinna for having connections.

"As soon as I told her about it, she was like, 'I will help you,'" Rausch told People this week. "She's a very well-connected woman, and she did it. She gave me all her resources and originally I was going to get it from a guy in Paris. I was going to actually have to go to Paris, which I was going to do. But now we got someone in New York City, and it's going to be great."

On Wednesday, Rausch officially made it happen as he went to Madison Avenue Couture (along with podcaster and social media star Jake Shane, for some reason) to secure the exact bag that Higgins picked out.

"She told me immediately she wanted burgundy with gold accent, size 30," Rausch told People.

Later that day, Rausch officially delivered the bag to Higgins on “Watch What Happens Live” as he carefully unwrapped the pricey bag while wearing a pair of white gloves.

“I knew I would win,” Higgins joked. “This is my moment.”

She may not have won the game, but she's still happy about the result.

A Rolex Next?

While Higgins might have received a pricey apology for Rausch's treachery, it sounds like his partner in crime, Nam, might not be so lucky.

After Rausch promised Higgins a Birkin as an apology, Nam requested a Rolex. But it doesn't sound like that's in the works just yet.

"I mean, Eric was a Traitor, like an actual Traitor, so it's kind of on him, low-key," Rausch told People. "We can see. If the people at Rolex want to talk, maybe we can work something out. But I don't know. I mean, Maura was, in my opinion, an honorary Traitor. She just didn't know it. Eric, he just kind of got outplayed a little bit, which sucks, but it's the name of the game."

"But I do love Eric," he continues. "He's a great guy. He's really nice. Maybe he does deserve a Rolex. I don't know. We'll see."

It's also worth noting that Rausch actually doesn't even have his $220,800 in winnings just yet. He had to pay for the Birkin out of his own pocket.

"I don't have the money," he said. "Luckily, I have enough pennies to scrap together for Maura's Birkin."
