Seth MacFarlane Says He Has 'No Plan' to Make 'Ted' Season 3 Due to 'Really Expensive' Production Costs

The Peacock series Ted will not be moving forward for a third season, at least not any time soon.

Creator and voice of Ted, Seth MacFarlane, recently told The Wrap that he has “no plan” to make season 3 as the show is reportedly “really expensive” to produce.

According to him, Peacock and Universal essentially kept telling him that the “show is really expensive to produce and there’s no way to do it at a lower cost.”

He continued, “So I said, ‘All right, I hear you loud and clear.’ So I wrote the last scene with Max [Burkholder] walking into a gym, presumably coming out as Mark Wahlberg in the first Ted film.”

Seth said that showrunners “Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan and I kind of painted ourselves into a corner. Is there a way to do it? There’s always a way to do anything. But at the moment, it might take some narrative acrobatics. There’s no plan that I’ve heard of at the moment to do season 3.”

Deadline reports that a source close to production says no renewal decision has been made, but an animated spinoff is coming out later this year.

Seth has also recently talked about using AI to play Bill Clinton in Ted season 2 and defended his reasoning for it.
