Dropping in three...two...one.

The best backcountry snowboarding event in the world goes down today in Revelstoke.

Day One of the Natural Selection Tour's Revelstoke stop will begin March 10, 2026, with coverage beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern Time, 1 p.m. Pacific. Fans can watch live and for free at Red Bull TV. Those in Revelstoke can watch the action in the Montana Bowl or join the party at Paul Mair.

Spencer O’Brien and Ståle Sandbech won the 2025 event. Each won $25,000 and a new Ski-Doo snowmobile, in addition to the crown. O’Brien is a five-time X Games gold medalist, and Sandbech is a 2014 Olympic silver medalist, but this marks the first backcountry contest either rider has won.

Sandbech defeated the 24-year-old Blake Moller in the final round. O’Brien held off Elena Hight for the women’s title. Gigi Rüf took third for the men, and Šárka Pančochová did the same for the women.

Sandbech started his first finals run off with a Cab 540 Melon and a massive backside 360 across the cliff face. Moller just barely missed the landing on a clutch cork backside 720 that likely would have helped him take the crown, had he landed it. He did not, though, and Sandbech was crowned the champion.

“You don’t get to practice your runs, you look at it on photos, and visualize how it might feel and look out for all the hazards,” he said after the contest. “And there are so many factors that affect when it comes time for your run. You have to turn on your instincts and go spontaneous. It’s so different every time, and you can’t really predict where people are going or what’s going to happen. So it’s crazy and exciting to ride.”

O’Brien held off Elena Hight for the women’s title. In her two runs, O’Brien led off with cab 540s, landing the first attempt and stomping the second with authority. She navigated to the HiBeams cliff zone to the rider’s right portion of the course and sent a massive drop to cap off her run. Hight led the finals off with a massive attempt at a 900 off a cliff but failed to land it. Watching her competitor go big was an inspiration to O’Brien.

“I was really happy seeing Elena drop in and do that front seven. It fired me up so much,” O’Brien said. “And I was like, yeah, let’s go—let’s just put it on the line and see what happens. It was really fun to get to ride with her today.”
