Trump Called Out by Former Beauty Queen Carrie Prejean After Being Fired from Religious Liberty Commission
Carrie Prejean is calling out Donald Trump after she was fired by the Justice Department’s Religious Liberty Commission.
Prjean first rose to prominence back in 2009 when she was crowned the winner of Miss California USA. She gained attention for her answer to a question about marriage, saying that she believed it should only be between a man and a woman. She later was fired from her role as Miss California USA after allegedly breaching her contract for not appearing at contracted events.
Fast forward to 2020, Prejean become a member of the Donald Trump Campaign Advisory Board and was appointed as a commissioner on the Religious Liberty Commission in May 2025.
Texas’ Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced in February 2026 that Carrie was removed from the Commission over her comments defending conspiracy theorist Candace Owens at a hearing.

She said during the hearing, “Stop calling Candace Owens an anti-Semite. She’s not an anti-Semite. She just doesn’t support Zionism, and that really has to stop. I don’t know why you keep bringing her up.”
Patrick said at the time, “No member of the Commission has the right to hijack a hearing for their own personal and political agenda on any issue. This is clearly, without question, what happened Monday in our hearing on antisemitism in America. This was my decision.”
Now, Prejean is calling out Trump.
She wrote on X in March 2026, “President Trump officially removes me from the Religious Liberty Commission for exercising my Religious Liberty. The only Catholic woman who opposes Zionism was removed as a prelude to the Iran war. This is the email I received from the White House informing me that my position on the Religious Liberty Commission was terminated.”
