Anti-corruption authority asks people to stop complaining about audit office reports
The anti-corruption authority on Monday asked people to stop filing complaints to it based on the content of reports published by the audit office.
“Whenever the audit office publishes one of its reports, people, perhaps with good intentions, submit a complaint to the authority, regarding as facts the content of those reports, and then request an investigation,” it said.
It added that in doing this, members of the public are “establishing themselves as complainants … without, however, having personal knowledge of the facts contained in their complaint”.
“The authority cannot satisfy such demands,” it said, before adding that it has “maintained excellent cooperation” with the audit office, but that “not all audit office reports concern corruption”.
“Where the audit office identifies issues of corruption which need to be investigated by the competent institutions, it sends them itself, either to the legal service or to the authority. It is noted that, to date, the audit office has sent many complaints to the authority,” it said.
As such, it added, “people do not need to substitute the work of the audit office”.
