South African private rail operator Traxtion has committed about R1.5-million for this year to two skills development initiatives that are designed to strengthen the long-term capacity within South Africa’s rail and logistics sector, while contributing to more inclusive and sustainable communities. Through its TraxWagon Bursary Programme and Disability Learnership Programme, the investment will widen access to technical and practical skills in recognition that sector growth depends not only on infrastructure and equipment but also on the people who can sustain, operate and expand them.
