'The Inbetweeners' Revival Confirmed at Netflix
Good news for the young and young at heart — Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil are back on our screens, with The Inbetweeners returning for a brand-new film at Netflix.
The coming-of-age British comedy starring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison, and James Buckley first hit screens back in 2008, and its raunchy, childish humor captured the hearts of the British viewing public and beyond.
The franchise spawned three seasons (an impressive achievement for the notoriously short life of British TV shows), two films, and an American remake — but perhaps the less said about the latter, the better.
According to a new report by The Sun, "Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project. But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on our television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won’t in its original home on Channel 4."
A source told the outlet that the new on-screen adventure will be a film, adding to The Inbetweeners Movie and The Inbetweeners 2, released in 2011 and 2014, respectively.
"The deal is on the cusp of being fully rubber-stamped," the source added, with "discussions still happening about production timelines, storylines and cast."
Other hopeful returning actors include real-life teacher-turned-comedian and Taskmaster host Greg Davies, as well as Emily Atack, who has starred in the Disney+ series Rivals. Hannah Tointon, who portrayed Simon's girlfriend Tara on the show, has been the actor's real-life partner for over 14 years.
In 2025, Banijay, the production company behind The Inbetweeners, announced a new deal with original series creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley. The deal was intended to bring new storylines and content to the beloved franchise, with the showrunners announcing in a statement, "It’s incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends)."
