Afghanistan U-17 face Tajikistan in final Central Asian Championship match

0

Afghanistan’s U-17 team face Tajikistan today in their final Central Asian Championship match after mixed results, seeking to end the tournament on a positive note.

Afghanistan’s national under-17 football team will take on Tajikistan in their final match of the 2026 Central Asian Championship, looking to secure a stronger finish after a difficult campaign. The match is scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Tashkent.

The team enters the game following a challenging run, having recorded two defeats and one draw in their previous matches against Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, leaving them without a win so far in the tournament.

A positive result against Tajikistan would offer a chance to end the competition on a better note and gain momentum for future youth tournaments, despite earlier setbacks.

The match will kick off at 1:30 pm local time in Tashkent, where the tournament is being hosted. The 2026 Central Asian Championship features five teams from the region, including Afghanistan, and began earlier this month in the Uzbekistan capital.

The tournament started on April 5 and will continue until April 15, providing a platform for emerging young players from Central Asia to compete at an international level.

While Afghanistan’s results have been modest, the final match offers a key opportunity to build confidence and finish the tournament with a stronger performance.
