BRASILIA (Reuters) - A congressional impeachment committee is expected to vote on Monday in favour of sending President Dilma Rousseff to trial for breaking Brazil's budget laws, presidential aides said, in the first major step toward her possible removal from office.

Cebu City –Officials of the city government yesterday expressed fear of a possible crisis at City Hall after the Office of the President issued a suspension order on Mayor Michael Rama, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, and 12 city councilors. Labella, the city council presiding officer, said he sees a “crisis situation” at City Hall once the order is implemented because only five councilors will be left working. “I see a crisis situation here if this (suspension order) is implemented. BIR suspends anew order requiring taxpayers to report bank deposits

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has suspended anew its old and unimplemented order requiring taxpayers to disclose their bank deposits in their income tax returns (ITRs). In signing Revenue Memorandum Circular 41-2016, BIR Commissioner Kim S. Henares said implementation of the so-called Annual Information Return (AIR) disclosing bank accounts will remain optional on the part of taxpayers filing their 2015 ITRs which deadline is on Friday. 13 Abu Sayyaf bandits slain in Basilan pursuit operations

Government forces killed 13 militants in continuing operations against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) that killed 18 soldiers last Saturday in Basilan, the military announced yesterday. Maj.
