Philippe Clément, le coach monégasque, est revenu sur cette victoire en conférence de presse avant d’affronter Lyon pour le compte de la 23e journée de Ligue 1 : « Une des qualités de Lens, c’est de frapper beaucoup au but. Seko Fofana est un des joueurs de Ligue 1 qui tente le plus sa chance de loin. Mais pour moi nous n’avons pas concédé de grandes occasions de but. Il y a eu beaucoup de frappes, mais quand tu tires de loin tu as statistiquement moins de chances de marquer. De notre côté, nous avons inscrit quatre buts avec de belles combinaisons. C’était la première fois que cette équipe de Lens en encaissait autant cette saison, donc j’étais très satisfait de notre prestation. »
