COLUMBIA — The starting quarterback was recruited out of high school only by smaller schools. One starting wide receiver transferred from Hampton, another was a former pro baseball player who hadn’t competed in football for three seasons prior to this one. One kick returner and one backup receiver are both transfers from Gardner-Webb.
