Da Costa picks up the pieces in Portland after Jaguar disaster

Jaguar's hopes for a 1-2 finish in Saturday's Portland E-Prix were dashed by a Nick Cassidy mistake and a time penalty for Mitch Evans, paving the way for Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa to snatch back-to-back Formula E victories.

Championship leader Cassidy was poised to secure his third win of the season and edge closer to the title at the Portland International Raceway.

However, on the penultimate lap, disaster struck. Leading the race, Cassidy ran wide through the fast left turn of Turn 10, lost his line through the next sweeping right, and ended up spinning out of the points.

Mitch Evans, running right behind his teammate, initially crossed the finish line first. But a five-second penalty for an earlier collision with Jake Hughes meant his victory was nullified.

Meanwhile, de Costa stayed calm and collected, driving his Porsche to victory. Envision's Robin Frijns and Penske's Jean-Eric Vergne rounded out the podium in the final standings.
