Embassy issued notice for Kazakhstanis in South Korea

Tengrinews.kz - The Embassy of Kazakhstan in South Korea has issued a statement addressing Kazakhstan citizens residing in the country amid recent developments.

"In light of the declaration of martial law by President Yoon Suk Yeol, we urge Kazakhstanis in South Korea to remain calm, strictly follow local authorities' recommendations, and refrain from participating in mass gatherings," the statement read.

Kazakhstanis are advised to contact the embassy immediately in case of emergency through the hotline at +82-10-6572-9311.
On the evening of December 3, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared a state of emergency and martial law. The decision followed political tensions after the opposition Democratic Party backed a bill for a reduced budget in parliament and filed impeachment motions against the state auditor and chief prosecutor. However, South Korea's National Assembly ultimately voted against the martial law declaration.
During the vote, clashes erupted outside the National Assembly between citizens protesting the martial law and law enforcement officers, with military vehicles deployed on the streets of Seoul.
According to recent updates, President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the lifting of martial law. He confirmed that martial law troops have been withdrawn, and a Cabinet meeting is scheduled to take place soon.
