Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov commented on the possibility of introducing a quarantine on meat supplies to other countries due to the discovery of anthrax in the Atyrau region.

"We are now tightening the requirements, stepping up our work. In fact, in the Atyrau region, there was a death of livestock at the slaughterhouse. We introduced quarantine there, all the necessary disinfection procedures, we did all this and are now monitoring it," Saparov assured.

The minister also emphasized that veterinary control measures have been tightened. A new rule has been introduced, according to which animals transported from one region to another must be quarantined for seven days in each region.

"Previously, if cattle were transported from one region to another without any quarantine work, now we have made it 7 days of quarantine. There, our veterinarians must check and conduct research in a separate pen. We will step up this work and demand it. There will be a lot of complaints from both veterinarians and the population. This also depends on the identification of farm animals. That is, we do not register animals on time, but, according to the rules, we must do the registration after seven days," he explained.

Earlier, signs of anthrax were discovered at the central market in Atyrau.
