The Ministry of Transport announced the construction of air harbors.
"In 2025, Kazakhstan began construction of three new airports in the resort areas of Zaysan, Katon-Karagay and Kendirli. The implementation of these projects will give impetus to the development of the economy of these regions, and will also contribute to the influx of both domestic and foreign tourists," the department said in a statement.
It was previously reported that the airport in Zaysan will be located on the territory of the former military airfield named after Satpayev. The distance from the construction site to the city of Zaysan is 25 kilometers. In the Katon-Karagay district, a new air harbor will be built between the villages of Katon-Karagay and Ulken Naryn, near the village of Soldatovo. The distance from the construction site to the village of Katon-Karagay is 38 kilometers. It was also specified that the construction of the Kendirli airport is planned 13 kilometers from the resort area of Kendirli.
By the way, in December 2023, the Minister of Transport reported that Kazakhstan was planning to build new airports. At that time, the press service of the ministry explained that they planned to spend 10 billion tenge each on the construction of the airport in Karkaraly and Ulytau, 16 billion in Zaysan, and 23.2 billion tenge in Katon-Karagay.
