Kazakhstan’s Culture Ministry labels “Syucai” as pseudoscience comparable to astrology
Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan has classified the organization “Syucai” as a pseudoscientific movement, comparing its methods to astrology and numerology.
The statement came in an official response to a parliamentary inquiry from Majilis deputy Aidos Sarym, signed by Vice Minister Kanat Iskakov. According to the document, the ministry conducts ongoing work to detect and prevent the influence of destructive or fraudulent groups posing risks to public safety and citizens’ spiritual well-being.
The ministry’s review included religious expertise of online materials linked to “Syucai,” carried out in September 2023. Experts concluded that the organization’s content “does not contain the structure, foundations, or practices of any religion.”
“The so-called digital psychology ‘Syutsai’ is essentially similar to astrology, numerology, and other pseudoscientific trends based on subjective interpretations and speculation around self-discovery, lacking any scientific validation or religious status,” the ministry’s response stated.
Officials added that analysis of publicly available materials confirmed the absence of religious or ritual activity, meaning the group cannot be classified as a religious organization.
Earlier in October, deputy Aidos Sarym warned during a Majilis session that esoteric and pseudo-psychological movements were spreading across the country. He cited “Syutsai” as an example, noting that its followers promote it as a form of “digital psychology aimed at revealing human potential.”
