Hale End hero set to become Arsenal’s highest earner with new deal
Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Bukayo Saka over a new long-term contract that will keep the winger at the Emirates Stadium until 2030.
The deal is in the final stages and only the last formalities remain before the 24-year-old signs.
Both parties expect the extension to be completed within weeks as discussions have progressed smoothly in recent days.
Saka has been clear throughout negotiations that his priority was to continue with Arsenal.
The club viewed his renewal as a central part of their long-term project and moved early to secure his future well before his previous deal, which ran until 2027, entered its final years.
The agreement follows William Saliba’s renewal earlier in the season and is another major step in Arsenal’s plan to retain the core of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Saka is set to become one of the club’s highest earners once the contract is finalised.
Arsenal want the new deal signed before the end of the year as they continue to build around the Hale End graduate who has developed into one of Europe’s most influential wide forwards.
His consistency, durability and attacking output have made him a defining figure in Arsenal’s resurgence under Arteta.
Saka has attracted interest from leading European clubs over the past two seasons but made it clear that he wanted to stay in North London.
His camp shut down external approaches early in the process and focused entirely on reaching an agreement with Arsenal.
The winger has six goals in 14 appearances this season despite missing matches through injury, maintaining the level that has made him one of the Premier League’s most productive attackers.
His overall record highlights his impact even further, with 76 goals and 71 assists in 277 senior appearances since breaking into the first team.
Saka’s rise from Hale End prospect to attacking leader has already brought silverware, including the 2020 FA Cup and two Community Shields.
Arsenal believe his best years are still ahead and see him as a cornerstone of their attempt to return to regular title contention at home and in Europe.
The new contract will allow Saka to spend his peak years at the club he joined as a child.
It also signals Arsenal’s intention to keep their most important players together as they push on from the progress made under Arteta.
The formal announcement is expected once the final documentation is completed.
