Kazakh woman convicted of robbery returned from Russia
Tengrinews.kz – A Kazakh woman convicted of robbery and theft who had been hiding from punishment in Russia has been extradited to her homeland, citing the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the supervisory authority, by a court verdict of the Alikhan Bokeikhan district in Karaganda dated May 10, 2024, the woman was found guilty of a group robbery committed with violence and of stealing another person’s property. The court sentenced her to three years of restricted freedom.
“While under probation supervision, in March 2025, the convicted woman unlawfully evaded serving her sentence. In this regard, the remaining unserved term — 1 year, 4 months and 7 days — was replaced with imprisonment, and she was put on the wanted list,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
In November 2025, the wanted woman was detained in Russia. She has now been placed in a pre-trial detention facility. She will later be sent to serve the prison term imposed by the court.
